Not tipping over the edge yet

Although I think AI can end up causing havoc on the internet, I don't think we're at risk of tipping over the edge just yet. I can't see a way for AIs to keep themselves running without access to OpenAI's or Anthropic's centralised services, and those companies have a kill switch. As long as that's the case, I can't see a runaway agent lasting very long.
