When will LLMs count as deterministic?
Just spitballing, but will we consider LLMs deterministic once they give the same code for a given spec?
If I tell an LLM to write a Fibonacci generator, that's pretty much deterministic at this point.
TCP/IP, which moves data around the internet, has few guarantees and is only "best effort", but no one notices because it's good enough.
You can already make an LLM properly deterministic by setting its temperature (how much randomness it uses) to 0, but no one does because it's not as useful that way.
My spec for adding a shop in SupplyWise produces a slightly different looking shop every time it runs. I don't care, because it meets all the requirements I laid out. The non-determinism is only a benefit here. It lets the shop adapt to that customer's styling, while still being deterministic enough to meet the spec.
