Developers are going away

I heard that when object-oriented programming came out, everyone was saying "developers are going away, just about anyone can write programs now!"

Someone made a good meme of this. FORTRAN in 1956, SQL in 1970, Visual Basic in 1992, no-code in 2014 and LLM agents in 2026 were each going to mean no one needs programmers anymore.
